Happy Tails 2006

GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

Dear Floss,

Thank you very much for the opportunity to adopt Black Magic. She is doing great at her new home! I visit her every day and make sure she gets her grain and vitamins. She lets me groom her and I even gave her a haircut this weekend with then new scissors and mane/tail comb I purchased.

She was a bit wild at the sanctuary, but she has come a LONG way in a short time. Where it used to take hours to get a halter on her now takes less than a minute and she even puts her head into the halter for you! She is AMAZING and has brought so much joy into my life!

Thank you! -Shannon Canfield

Katie has lived her entire life longing for a horse to call her own. Flicka was a show horse, an incredible, beautiful show horse. She had everything going for her, a great person who loved her a lavish lifestyle and was queen of the ring. We don't know her entire story, but somewhere along the lines, Flicka aged, she began to have a hard time keeping her weight on and was thrown out to pasture. It was love at first sight for Katie and Flicka. Flicka couldn't get enough of Katie's brushing and petting. She immediately picks up her feet for her hoof cleaning for Katie and will allow Katie to learn the ways of the horse safely!

Happy Holidays Katie! With the support of her family, Katie's first horse will now be Flicka. Flicka continues to recover at the Sanctuary and Katie along with her parents visit on a regular basis. She now has a new halter, lead rope, brush, hoof pick and still plenty of senior feed.

Dear Floss,

I read the "Happy Tails" article and it inspired me to write to you. I want to thank you for our cat that we recently adopted from you, Boots. He is all black except for white paws, nose, and chest/stomach. He came from Texas. We had a cat for 16 years that recently passed away, leaving our young male cat, Moe, all alone. We weren't planning to adopt a cat when we went into PetSmart that day, but we saw Boots and couldn't resist him. It has been a match made in heaven. I have never had such a loving cat. He is happy and content to get petted and sleep on me for hours at a time, day or night. The other night he was sleeping on my face, my husband had no idea how I was able to breathe. He follows me around the house, and is a lot of fun. He and Moe have become good friends too. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all you do, and how you do it which is equally as important.

Lynn Morales, Fort Collins.

Max
, an older Sharpai/Visla mix, came to the sanctuary after being rescued from the aftermath of Hurricane Charlie. He was adopted in July of 2006 and is doing very well in his new home. Max now has several other dogs to keep him company and acres of fenced land to roam. He is also quite content sleeping at his owners' feet, as he now so often does.

Sonya, a six year old Saddlebred/Mustang mix, was adopted on September 13th, 2006 and is very happy at her new home in the mountains near Rocky Mountain National Park. She has a six year old Quarter horse mare as a companion and gets plenty of love and attention from her new owners.
