Maybell is a domestic female turkey. She was the result of a feed
store purchase, somebody who wanted her as a pet. Well a year later and
way too much time in a cage left her headed for the chopping block and
then a cook pot with very few feathers left to show on her breast or tail.
We thank her rescuers who worked hard to get her to our Sanctuary and
save her from ending up as dinner. Maybell had no idea what to do with
herself here. She knew humans but not what freedom was. Poor thing! She
was at a loss for what to do here until she spotted two more turkeys! Now
she happily roams free on our Sanctuary and her feathers are beginning to
come back, she is so very inquisitive and a joy to pet!

Eldora is an 11-year-old female goat. She is
incredibly friendly and loves treats! Eldora had a rough run at a
temporary home before she came to our sanctuary. She was a bit difficult
to get along with at first, but thanks to the help of many volunteers and plenty
of socializing, she has really taken a liking to everything!

There are currently six sheep that call the sanctuary home.
Three of them came from another sanctuary that shut down. They were the
lucky ones, products of factory farming. Luckily, they have been able to
live to a ripe old age in both of our sanctuaries.
The other three came from a herd which had been attacked, they were the three
survivors. They are here to live out their lives and would absolutely
enjoy your sponsorship and caring donations. They need alfalfa hay, salt,
and minerals and enjoy a treat if you happen to have one hanging out in your
pocket!

Liberty is an 8 year old Mustang from the plains of Nevada. He
was captured by the BLM at age 5 and then sent to their holding facility in
Wyoming where he was then purchased by a dude ranch who thought they could just
throw a saddle on a wild mustang and have a perfect trail horse. Obviously
liberty had no idea what they wanted and when he took off at a full run and left
them up in a tree, they decided to run him through auction where he was bid on
by our lovely local killer buyers. Fortunately he was lucky and was purchased by
a horse trader, which is how he ended up with us.
He is here to live his life out with as little human intervention as
possible. He is part of a dying breed that is being rounded up and shipped of to
slaughter and other horrible fates on a continual basis. By sponsoring Liberty,
you are helping to assure that this does not happen to him ever. You are also
helping to provide him with hay and any other veterinary bills that should
arise.

Teya is a 20+ year old Paso Fino Mare. She was badly foundered
upon entering the Sanctuary and had been out to pasture with an 18 hh
Clydesdale who was taken in and rescued by another individual. Teya is an
amazingly well-trained horse, though skittish at first, she really does
enjoy treats and being brushed.

Sweet Pea, is now 10 years old, she is the spirit behind this
Sanctuary. Sweet Pea suffers from club foot, a condition that is not
going to improve at this point. She is so amazing to meet. This horse is
so very accepting of her crippling condition and loves to greet our many
groups of school children that come on out to visit.

Little Man is a 10 year old Stallion, soon to be gelding. He came
to us from a neglect case with a body condition score of 1 on a scale of
1-9. He was almost dead. Little man has the funniest, most out-going
personality. He loves treats, especially carrots, adores a good grooming
and is very well trained. Help us to continue his care and come on out to
visit him!

Mare in Canada.
To learn more about PMU Farms, visit our educational links page. Jade is
still very shy of people, but has come a long way since her first day with
us. She will actually walk up to us for grain now. If you like a
challenge, Jade is it!

Jebadiah (Jeb) is a wonderful 26 year old draft mule. He follows
us around as we feed and will be the first to greet you when visiting our
sanctuary.
Jeb was a dude mule, his teeth were neglected therefore, he is now on a
strict diet of senior grain twice per day, but still enjoys his time on our 100
acres of pasture with his buddies!
