Hope is 35 years old. Upon entering the Sanctuary at the age of
34, she could not move any of her joints, has an eye that is sewn shut,
had obviously just had a foal as she was still very bagged up. Severely
underweight and with two blown out knees, she was quite a sight. This
beautiful mare will live her natural life out here at our Sanctuary in
peace, something this last part of her life was lacking. You can make a
difference for her. Sponsor Hope, she will look forward to your visit and
love!
Thank you to Ginny Crockett-Mailett for her sponsorship of Hope!

Harmony is a 19-year-old Swedish Warmblood mare.
Once upon a time she was a dressage and jumping horse. These activities
led to her current condition called Navicular. Navicular is very
painful for horses and can eventually accelerate to the point in which they can
no longer walk or stand. Keeping up with farrier work is extremely
important for horses with this issue.
Harmony is a bit difficult to keep weight on, so her diet consists of hay
with senior grain and vitamins on a daily basis. She is an incredibly
pampered lady and will only settle for the best in grooming and daily
activities. Every night she loves to make a running dash into her stall,
actually the stall next to hers, until she figures out that that one is not
hers, and then back into her stall she goes!
Thank you to Melissa Rechner for her sponsorship of Harmony!
Melissa, you have made a world of difference in this sanctuary and
this amazing horse!

Jebadiah (Jeb) is a wonderful 26 year old draft mule. He follows
us around as we feed and will be the first to greet you when visiting our
sanctuary.
Jeb was a dude mule, his teeth were neglected therefore, he is now on a
strict diet of senior grain twice per day, but still enjoys his time on our 100
acres of pasture with his buddies!
Thank you to Teresa Minnich of DCP Midstream, Greeley, CO for sponsoring Jeb! |

Survivor is one of our miracle seven. Survivor, the famous #22. This gentle, kind 30 year old
gelding is skin and bones with a blind left eye and no teeth left for hay.
Survivor is by far the thinnest of the 33 horses that were on this transport and
yet his will to live is strong. Survivor is on a diet of senior horse feed
throughout the day and his energy and weight are picking up.
Thank you to Shanda L. Morgan of Merrimack, NH for sponsoring
Survivor! |

Lena is yet another of our miracle seven. Lena is an amazing 21 year old mare. She has a bad knee on her front left
leg and twists it a bit when she walks. Lena is looking for a home with pasture,
a buddy and peace! She is very sweet and luckily only has a few scrapes on her
head from bouncing around in the trailer with 33 other horses.
Thank you to Shanda L. Morgan of Merrimack, NH for sponsoring Lena! |

Sunny is approximately 15 years old. He was once a
barrel racer, carrying his rider as fast as he could while they whipped his ears
and beat him on a regular basis from the time he was 3 years old. He has
known nothing else.
Because of his abuse, Sunny suffers from (in layman's terms) emphysema.
His lungs are very congested and he only has a matter of time. With
special care and medication, we are able to help ease his pain and make
breathing less of a struggle.
It has taken around a year for Sunny to begin to trust us. He will
never get over the harshness of his past life and has had a hard time adjusting
to not having a whip thrown to him every time anybody comes near him. He
is very stiff in his hips due to the hard work he endured. It is rare that
we see a horse that has such distrust in women rather than men, this is the
exception. Help become a part of the solution, sponsor Sunny now!
Thank you to Louise Orr of Littleton, CO for sponsoring Sunny!
